In addition to being free and open for the public to drop in 5 days/week, our Library also offers programming including workshops, author/illustrator signings, and readings featuring young authors.

SNOWBALL & ME WRITING WORKSHOP WITH NICK WILLMER-SHILES

AUGUST 20TH 4:30PM

Join debut author and chef, Nicholas Willmer-Shiles, for an interactive writing workshop that will feature Snowball and Me. Through writing prompts and a five senses exercise young writers will capture and share family stories and traditions. All writers will receive a composition book to continue their writing. The first 30 writers to RSVP will receive a signed copy of Snowball and Me for their home libraries.

Nick is a San Francisco native who took writing classes at McSweeney’s and is a chef at New York Times 2025 Top 100 restaurant, The Salty Lunch Lady Luncheonette in Brooklyn, NY.

Gayle Kabaker, illustrator, is a nine time New Yorker Cover artist and this is her debut children's book.

Self-Directed Saturdays ~ Every Saturday, 12pm-5pm

Come in on Saturdays to write, work on your own books, and use our binding machine. Students of any age are welcome to come in, work, receive guidance from one of our librarians, and bind a book of their own.

Zine mAKING dEMONSTRATIONS ~ Every friday, 12pm-5pm

Come in on Fridays to fold your own zines with the help of Librarian Jade. Learn about paper folding, author your own zine and give them to your friends! All are welcome!
